Fuel pump just went out on my 2012 Ram 1500, costing me $685. Only 51,000 miles on it.
Now it’s about 35 degrees out and I’m in Michigan. Only one other vehicle to use at my disposal.

Which engine do you have in your Big Horn?

Bet it was a Bosch part.
Either way, that is lame. Better ride the dirtbike to work.

Fuel pumps for a ‘12 Ram on Rockauto are only $185 - $380

Denso. And it’s times like these I wish I was still an engineer at Chrysler so I could put the broken parts on the desk of the engineer responsible

Ahaha yes. “Get on the horn right now with the vendor and corporate.”

They’re on top of the tank, of course. In Michigan - outdoors - no thank you. I’d be ponying up the money to a man with a lift, too.

Is that out of warranty?
![]() 12/30/2015 at 09:44 |

Yep. 36k miles covers anything. 100k only covers powertrain which the fuel pump is not apart of

I could replace that for you, but you are 1,000 miles away :(

Sack up, layer up, and mount up.
Or go rent a Hyundai and forever may it haunt you.

Aww, those warranty can be misleading.

If you have good gloves (or heated grips) you can make it work, especially for lower-speed or shorter trips. I used to have to ride in the winter somewhat regularly with my last car being a total shitbox.
Your hands will freeze before anything else and it’s kind of a safety issue if you can’t work the clutch, front brake, or throttle.

Big hand guards help block the wind too

I would have been surprised if it was covered seeing as how it’s not a direct powertrain component

Yeah. On my old DR350 which served part-time winter duty, I had a set of Hippo Hands over the handguards. They work great for keeping your hands toasty warm. It’s all about keeping the wind off when it comes to riding in cold weather.
Good luck! It’s actually kind of fun if it snows (although I don’t think I’d want to be out in traffic). Hopefully your truck is repaired quickly.

The backup camera on my mom’s RAV4 broke, and the cost to replace it isn’t much less than that.

Hey you didn’t get the recall notice for the fuel pump???? My parent’s had their 2012 Hemi Grand Cherokee fuel pump replaced under recall in May or June?

They checked at the dealer for mine, and my vehcile was not affected by it. Yeah I had hopes for it too
